We arrived in Padua (or Padova as it
is also called) just before noon. It is
another relatively unknown gem being overshadowed by more famous city states
like Venice & Bologna. Padua has an
amazing history and is full of some incredible art (like Giotto’s famous fresco). It’s also the home of Saint Anthony and he is
buried in a shrine within a very large and beautiful church. There is also a
huge basilica sitting on the Prato del Valle, a huge square with several large
Romanesque statues around a central park-like space.
The Merchants common hall is a huge building
Market day in the square
Main street pedestrian way
The chapel that holds the Giotto fresco is now a humidity controlled environment
We weren't allowed to take photos of the fresco, so this is a photo of the brochure.
