Sicily and Catania have a vast history of Roman ruins. We have found a number of sites within the
city and plan to take a trip to visit the Valley of the Temples later in the
month. Within Catania, we found the remains of the Roman Coliseum, which was
destroyed in the earth quake in the 1693. Most of the stone was also taken to build the cathedral. All that is left is the foundation section.
We also visited the Roman baths that are located under the Duomo. Both are
thousands of years old.
