Wed Feb 20th – Palermo

On Wed we took the coast road to Palermo, stopping at a quaint seaside town for lunch. The drive was quite picturesque.  Palermo was a very large city and getting to our hotel was a challenge. The traffic was unbelievable and the Italian drivers are crazy. The old city centre had some incredible architecture but the buildings were in bad shape. The city looked run down and we were very nervous walking around the area at night. We ended up having a great four course dinner in our hotel.  We did get to tour around the city centre the next morning. In its day, it must have been a very beautiful city.
