Tuesday Feb 17th – Agrigento & the Valley of Temples

On Tuesday, we rented a car and set off for a short tour of Sicily Island. We drove first to Agrigento to see the Valley of Temples. These are several Greek temples dating back to 600BC. They are all now in a historic park setting. They are magnificent to see and a few are still in great shape, given their age.  We stayed overnight in a B&B and had a very unusual experience with the owner. He was a strange guy, who talked way too much and appeared in his 'jammies' at 9:30 at night to set the table for breakfast. When we asked him if he was married, he said no, he was a Cinderella. He was a real piece of work.

This is the Temple of Juno

That's the Temple of Concordia across the valley
These recesses are burial tombs

Temple of Concordia
It's in amazing shape after 2600+ years

Temple of Hercules
Most of it fell down and was partially restored

Wow, these pillars are heavy
The Temple of Concordia is so beautiful

Charlotte was standing in a strategic position of this bronze statue
