Friday Mar 6th – Verona, the City of Love

Today we took the train to Verona, the city of love. It is another beautiful city that is clearly very wealthy. The streets in the main squares and walking areas are paved with marble.  There are also many high end stores with fancy and expensive clothes for sale.  One of the main attractions is the roman coliseum which is in amazing condition considering its age. It’s also the home to Romeo & Juliette and the famous balcony that gave Shakespeare the inspiration for his play. The weather was very warm and we sat outside at a café for lunch, drinking in the warmth of the sun (we had to strip down as it was too hot sitting there).  We are off tomorrow to our apartment in Lucca for the next 2 weeks.  We will rest for a few days before venturing out on some day trips.
