Catania is an old city made out of lava rocks (it sits at the base of Mt Etna). There are lots of fabulous piazzas and old buildings in baroque style. We wandered around the main square, Piazza Duomo, and up the main street, Via Etnea, which had lots of fancy shops. The food here is outstanding. We went out for dinner last night at Trattoria Da Antonio, which is right next door to our apartment. The meal was amazing, and very inexpensive. Today we had an incredible lunch for 15 Euros, which included a ½ litre of local wine (3 Euros). It’s going to be a fabulous gastronomic experience.
